President’s Note: An AMII Sandwich – and a Community Coming Together

Well, another great week for Alberta’s Tech Sector:

– Monday: Juno Awards in Edmonton – with AMII being the Juno’s first ever AI Partner
– Tuesday: Sold-out ICE Event with ERPBC – 4 Award-winning Entrepreneurs
– Friday night: Women Techmakers from Google – International Women’s Day Event at AMII
 
..so the week was an AMII sandwich, but beginning with the end in mind, the young volunteers who put on the Google Women’s event at AMII were absolutely inspiring! This was their first ever event of this kind – which had the flavour of ‘not knowing just how good they were’. 

These young ladies had a great line-up – from AI royalty like AltaML, to an amazing venue provided by AMII, to the GREAT turnout – resulting from the community coming together. The icing on the cake, was that these grad students went out to the local Regional Innovation Network (funded by Alberta Innovates) for Community Initiatives funding, and not only did they receive the support they were looking for.. they were encouraged to ask for more next year!
